A Bit About me

Welcome to my personal weblog! I have many areas of interest as a Christian wife and home schooling mother of 6 girls: writing, poetry, website design, digital photography, a home business (sewing); however, this blog will focus more on the wonderful journey the Lord has brought our family through and what the Lord has shown me in His Holy Word.

I know that my devotionals don't often speak of specifics in our lives, but I want my readers to know that what I write comes most often from what the Lord is doing in our lives, or has done. I don't just repeat words by this preacher or that one. My devotionals are often written through a haze of tears, sometimes in grief, sometimes in peace at God's goodness for what He is doing for our good. At other times, after a flood of tears over my lack of faith in His great plan for us, especially after I've seen Heaven's gates open in another miraculous answer to prayer. What I write is what God shows me through those trials which He brings because of His great goodness as He works out His perfect plan. - Angela.

10 Minutes or Less

I really didn’t know what to title this one, but I know what I want to convey: Our God IS a prayer answering God!

Yesterday, it became obvious that our home sewing business needed a secondary industrial, straight-stitch, walking foot sewing machine (similar to JUKI LU-1508N). I had been struggling with this for about a year, but really didn’t want to shell out the money for it.  However, with the increase in volume of work that specifically needs an industrial machine, I could not keep up by myself. Neither could I take time away from the one industrial to let one of our girls practice to get good at it to be able to help and then sew at the same time. Hence the need for a secondary machine.  A new one is $3000, and a used is $1500-$2000, but used ones are VERY hard to find as people hold onto them .

So, on with the story.

On Monday, July 27th, I called my regular industrial sewing machine store in Vancouver, but they didn’t have any used ones. Inf fact, the machine I have was the ONLY used they have ever had. Hmmm….this was not looking good. I told him I really couldn’t shell out $3000 right now, but that I would think about it and get back to him before week’s end. Since he is a Christian, I also asked him to pray that they would get a used one, or I would find one here.

When I got off the phone, I got down on my knees and prayed. I told the Lord that I felt we needed another machine, but that He really knew if we did, and just like everything else, providing a used machine for under $2000 was not beyond Him. As I prayed, the Lord impressed upon me to call my sewing machine repair man, Hector,  so I did. I had a few other things to ask Hector about, so did that first, then said I was looking for another machine like my Juki, or similar, and did he know of anyone who has one.

“Yes,” he answered, “I have one close to it here.”

I was dumbfounded! “For heavy materials?”

“Yes.”

“Walking foot?”

“Yes.”

“How much?”

“$1200”

Praise the Lord!!!! I was extatic!

I tried the machine that night and it worked fine, so it came home with us. Cynthia has since used it enough to get proficient and is now helping me.

As I said, our Lord is a prayer answering God, and yes, sometimes in 10 minutes or less!
